Flames, Smoke Awaken Huntington Apartment Occupants

After Huntington firefighters put out a blaze at the Flats apartments, 625 Sixth Avenue, they discovered the smoke and flames originated from a "vacant" apartment that had been taken over by the homeless.

Firefighters arrived about 6:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 18 and quickly contained the blaze. According to WSAZ two individuals have been arrested for trespassing following the fire. Huntington Fire Marshal Steve Ellis indicated the cause of the fire was arson.
