HMDA Seeking Approval for Third Kinetic Hotel

Updated 5 years ago by Tony Rutherford HuntingtonNews.Net Reporter

Following May 2014 authorization of preliminary negotiations to bring a third hotel to HMDA's Kinetic Park property, the development authority holds a vote at its September 15 meeting to sell 2.1 acres to H & W Hotels  The firm has constructed the hotels at the facility, Hampton Inn and Towne Place Suites. The new hotel could be a Marriott but the chain has various styles and the choice for Kinetic has not yet been revealed. HMDA meets at 4 p.m. Monday in City Council Chambers.

The Huntington Municipal Development Authority on May 29 reclassified the top level of the park to include commercial development that would bring jobs that pay a higher than average wage.

Tom Bell, executive director, will also deliver a report on the dismissal of the Mountaineer Gas suit, a Brownfield grant, and a review of the HUD loan that covers Douglass Centre and the former Huntington High School on Eighth Street.
