PIKEVILLE, KY – It’s the time for all things that go bump in the night. As citizens of Pike County prepare for seasonal costume parties, pumpkin carvings, apple bobbing, and trick or treat, a local bookstore is also preparing for an All Hallows’ Eve celebration— a special author event happening this Saturday, Oct. 11, from 1 - 3:30 p.m.

According to Glenda Hall, owner of BookNotes, a nationally-known horror and thriller writer, Michael Knost, and an Appalachian UFO and Alien researcher and expert, Kyle Lovern, will be appearing together at the store to celebrate the Halloween season and meet and greet customers. They will also be autographing special copies of their most chilling book titles.

Michael Knost is an international Bram Stoker Award recipient and Black Quill Award winner for his nonfiction work, “Writers Workshop of Horror.”  His newest novel, “Return of the Mothman,” brings the evil, red-eyed creature back to its old stopping grounds, to West Virginia—this time making its appearance not in Point Pleasant, but in rugged Logan County.

“In this novel, the Mothman has some unfinished business across the Tug River in the Mountain State, and I think local readers will be able to identify with the variety of individuals and personalities in the book.”

The novel—described by the publisher (Woodland Press of Chapmanville, WV) as having skillfully drawn characters and riveting suspense—is already receiving tremendous industry buzz and positive reviews. Knost says “Return of the Mothman” had been in the making—“slow-cooking and simmering”—for the last three years.

Other regional bestsellers Knost will be discussing and signing will include the “Legends of the Mountain State” series, “Appalachian Winter Hauntings: Weird Tales from the Mountain State,” “Specters in Coal Dust,” “Dark Tales of Terror,” and others.

Kyle Lovern is a local UFOlogist, journalist, and author of  “Appalachian Case Study: UFO Sightings, Alien Encounters and Unexplained Phenomena,” volumes 1 and 2, and “Memories of Tug Valley: A Trip Back In Time.”

Lovern has been featured on a number of nationally known UFO radio programs, including Coast-to-Coast AM with George Noory. He has also been interviewed for television and for a number of newspapers and UFO-related magazines.
