Chafin Building
Built 1910-1911
The Chafin Building is located on the central block of Ninth Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. The Robson and Prichard Investment Company chose the architectural firm of Elzner and Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio, to design the building. A penthouse was added later.

Fred C. Prichard, a Huntington resident, and Hugh A. Robson maintained real estate offices on the fourth floor. In 1941 Guarantee Bank & Trust who occupied the first floor gained control of the building and renamed it the Guarantee Bank Building. In the 1950s ownership changed which resulted in the present day name Chafin Building
.
The two story entrance doors and windows are separated in a two-tone brown brick stitching masonry pattern with capitals in fret and egg and dart moldings. Resting above the entrances are impressive Roman Medallions with beaded straps supporting swaged laurel garland wrapped in Roman banding. A distinct belt cornice wraps the second story and engaging pilasters rise to the ninth floor level terminating in another cornice that also wraps the structure. A series of high relief laurel wreaths are suspended on ribbon-tapered tabs. Large paired brackets at the corners with high relief dentil molding support the elaborate crown cornice.
