Parkersburg Ghost Tour Voted One of the Most Popular in U.S.

Parkersburg, WV (HNN) --- The Haunted Parkersburg Ghost Tours were recently voted on in a poll sponsored by the Haunted America Tours to be one of the most popular ghost tours in the nation, beating out larger cities like Las Vegas, New York City and Los Angeles.
Coming in at number 10, the Haunted Parkersburg Ghost Tours received more than 10,000 online votes that were based upon an interview with tour creator and owner Susan Sheppard, the Haunted Parkersburg website and the overall popularity of the tour with visitors who came on past tours.
Owner Susan Sheppard says, “We were somewhat shocked when we won – for one thing, we had no idea there was even such a contest going on. However, we were not completely surprised because our tour guides work hard and Haunted Parkersburg has many unique elements that other ghost tours simply do not have.”
Now in its eleventh year, Haunted Parkersburg is a haunted and historical walking tour of downtown Parkersburg, West Virginia narrating local ghost stories and paranormal tales from past and present times. Not only does the ghost tour tell tales of local ghostly lore, it covers other stories involving the paranormal such as the Mothman, Indrid Cold and legends of Scottish banshees.
The tour is led by ghost hunters and paranormal authors. Areas visited on the ghost tour are graveyards and historical areas of Parkersburg – which during the Civil War was called “the wickedest city along the Ohio River.”

All ghost tours begin at the historic Blennerhassett Hotel in downtown Parkersburg at 4th & Market Streets.
