Baltimore, MD (HNN) – From the harbor home of John Waters comes news that West Virginia actress/producer, Dani Englander’s “Two Fireflies” will be part of October’s Baltimore’s Women’s Film Festival.

The festival screens films at Landmark Cinema’s Harbor East and 50% of ticket sale proceeds are donated to breast cancer research and outreach at the John Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center.

Although the screening time has not yet been announced, the 2009 festival runs October 23-25.

The film screen at the 2009 Arizona International Film Festival in Tucson and played as a “work-in-progress” at the Keith Albee Performing Arts Center during the 2007 Appalachian Film Festival. Ms. Englander joined D.B. Sweeney (“Two Tickets to Paradise”) as professional artists at that year’s festival.

“Two Fireflies” tells of an unlikely friendship between a depressed coffee shop waitress and a still grieving widower. Instead of a May-December romance, the two forge a friendship that has the other person’s best interest at heart. Shot on a budget of less than $5,000, the dudes introduction to meeting prospects from on-line dating is a hoot!

Also, known as Dani McCall, the filmmaker /actress comes from the Rainelle family that formed the Marquee Cinemas circuit.

Besides the screening announcement, Englander tells me she had a “blast” shooting a promo for Discovery Investigation (Channel’s) “Deadly Women” series. Profiling the lives of famous femme fatales, Englander told HNN the promo has “three women demonstrating murdering their husband’s” in various ways.

The promo should start airing in August. Englander is the gal with a vial of poison for her not-so beloved spouse.
