MU's Bluetrane Wows Jazz Fans at Ritter Park

Huntington, WV (HNN) – Bluetrane, a jazz band made up of Marshall University
professors, played at the Ritter Park Amphitheater as part of the MU
Chamber 10 Concerts series on Sunday evening, June 19, 2005.

The musicians well recognized for their musical accomplishments played well and gave an excellent performance. In addition to teaching, some of them are composers of published music and others play professionally.
The group is made up of Marshall Onofrio, trumpet; Mike Stroeher, trombone; Martin Saunders, trumpet; Ed Bingham, saxophone; Jay Flippin, piano; Matt Dunne, guitar; Mark Zanter, bass; and Ben Miller on drums.
The crowd of about 100 had a nice comfortable summer day to enjoy the jazz music and gave rounds of applause after each number.
Dr. Ben Miller reminded everyone to come next Sunday, June 26, 2005 at 7 p.m. for the last show in the concert series that will have audience participation. A community drum circle will be formed with Professor Boom Boom. The show will be have an orientation for kids.
