Kenova Joins Washington, DC, Boston in Combining Music, Pyrotechnics

Kenova, WV (HNN) - A concert of patriotic music by Ceredo Kenova Alumni Band under the direction of Charles M. Oshel contributed to an outstanding Independence Day celebration at Kenova Towne Square on Monday, evening, July 4, 2005

George B. Morrone, Mayor of the City of Kenova, proudly announced that Kenova was one of three cities in the nation to hold such an concert: The other two were Boston and Washington D.C.
 
From vocalist Dale Capehart's wonderful voice opening with the singing the National Anthem everyone enjoyed the traditional patriotic music. Songs like America the Beautiful, God Bless America, Amazing Grace, Washington Post March, Battle Hymn of the Republic were sung.
 
The Saints Alive Choir added their patriotic singing to the celebration. Performing in their red gowns, the choir was well received by the audience.
 
American flags were waving, children were playing and all in all, it was a nice atmosphere. The town square was packed.
 
WSAZ– TV meteorologist Tony Cavalier took a moment from his busy schedule to sit down, chat and enjoy the concert. He featured the concert on his 11 p.m. Monday weather broadcast.
