PICNIC WITH THE POPS Beth McVey Performs with Huntington Symphony Orchestra

Huntington, WV (HNN)- Broadway singer and professional actress Beth McVey performed with the Huntington Symphony Orchestra at Picnic with the Pops Saturday night, July 16, 2005, at Harris Riverfront Park.
 
A heavy rain before show time left everything soaked in Huntington, however that didn't stop the crowd and the show went on with only a few minutes delayed starting time. The rest of the evening remained rain free.
 
The Marshall University Alumni Board members were in attendance enjoying the evening. Executive Director Lance A. West got to share the stage for a moment with McVey when she was looking for a volunteer from the audience. Lance's name was suggested from several of the board members and up he went on stage to the delight of the audience.
 
McVey, from Huntington and Miss West Virginia 1973, was a such a hit with the crowd that she received a standing ovation.
 
McVey has appeared in numerous Broadway productions including "Nine," "Annie," "Phantom of the Opera," and "Beauty and the Beast." She has also traveled across the country on tour performing in many shows.
