Grown-up Dress-Up Time at Castle Crookshanks
Fun to Benefit the Union Mission
By BNN Staff
Bluefield, WV (BNN) – If you need more than just ghosts and goblins to complete the harvest season, then put Nov. 3 on your calendar.
Castle Crookshanks – a costume party with a purpose – takes place from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Bluefield Area Arts Center, 500 Bland St, Bluefield, West Virginia.
“Castle Crookshanks started as an excuse for some of my college-student friends to dress up at Halloween,” says Alex Crookshanks, the event's founder. “We shopped at post-Halloween discount sales for cheap costumes and candy. The party has evolved over the past four years. This year we are honored to move it to the Arts Center and donate proceedings to the Bluefield Union Mission.”
Admission is $10 per person, but you can pay half-price ($5) if you bring two nonperishable food items for donation to the mission. Because the scare quotient may be high, the party is for those ages 18 and older.
The party will include food (no alcohol), door prizes, musical performances, games, and prizes for the best and scariest costumes.
“We are going to do our best to keep you entertained and raise money for the Bluefield Union Mission,” says Alex Crookshanks. “We’re still in need of more door-prize donations and volunteers to clean up afterwards.”
