Special to Huntingtonnews.net
Huntington, WV (HNN) -- Camden Park is rocking and rolling to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Big Dipper. The Anniversary Celebration is July 18th when the world famous COASTERS take the stage to perform the music of the era when the Big Dipper was built. Two big shows are planned at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in the Mound Builder Pavilion and a spectacular fireworks show will follow at 10 p.m.
THE COASTERS are best known for their first hit "DOWN IN MEXICO" released in the spring of 1956. In 1957, they hit the chart with a double-sided smash "YOUNG BLOOD" and "SEARCHIN". Each sold a million copies. In 1958, THE COASTERS again hit the chart with two blockbuster hits, "YAKETY YAK" and "CHARLIE BROWN". From then on it was hit after hit for THE COASTERS with "POISON IVY", "LITTLE EGYPT", "LOVE POTION NUMBER 9", "BABY THAT'S ROCK AND ROLL" and many more. They were the first group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio in 1987. Though often imitated, THE COASTERS cannot be duplicated; they continue to do what they do best, entertain audiences!
One of the Sponsors of The Big Dipper Party, The WDGG is having a contest to select the first patrons to ride the Big Dipper on July 18th when Camden Park opens.
Camden Park announces its newest promotion, and it is for Senior Citizens. Every Tuesday in July is Senior Day with Senior Admission only $5.25 on that day.
