Huntington (HNN) — While the space that once flourished as the Calamity Café stays vacant, workers continue remodeling of the former Subway location (on Third Avenue across from Arby’s) into the promised Hillbilly Hotdog home cookin’ restaurant.

In addition, Husson’s Pizza, a regional chain originating in the Kanawha Valley, will soon open at 16th Street and Hal Greer directly across from Old Main. The location has had a variety of tenants from Hulio’s Mexican Restaurant, to the Double Dribble and most recently Cabell County’s Democratic Headquarters.

According to their web site, the family owned and operated chain first opened in St. Albans on March 23, 1977. Operating on the motto, "A quality pizza sold at a fair price would create its own place in the market," Husson’s opened their Cross Lanes location in 1978. Since then, they have added stores in Teays Valley, Pinch, Charleston’s West Side, Spring Hill, South Hills and in Kanawha City.

The Husson’s menu includes Vegetarian pizza, subs, and low carb items such as Pizzadillas (like a quesadilla) , Wraps (ham, turkey or steak wrapped in a tortilla shell), and pizzas made on tortilla shell crusts. Their web site is: hussonspizza.com

Next door, a new coffee shop plans to open within a week. Green-Lady Coffee House will occupy the location that formerly was Kinko’s Copies.
