HUNTINGTON, WV (HNN) – The shooting of a woman’s father could rekindle previous discussions and controversy from incidents in which an officer who took a deadly shot was cleared by both HPD’s Professional Standards Unit and a Cabell County Grand Jury.But, Huntington Council Public Safety Committee Chairperson , Frances Jackson, has not yet fielded complaint calls about the shooting of the suspect in Guyandotte. HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- Marshall women’s basketball’s Tynikki Crook scored her 26th career double-double but it was enough as first place Tulane took a 68-38 victory in Sunday afternoon’s Conference USA matchup at the Cam Henderson Center. COLUMBUS, OHIO (HNN) – A recent Ohio EPA report has listed Scioto as one of seven state counties with higher than acceptable cancer risks from air pollution. The Ohio EPA report stated that cancer risks in Scioto County run 1.01 additional cancers per 10,000 people. Read more

Abuse and neglect cases take up at least a third of a typical circuit judge’s time, so the Supreme Court’s Court Improvement Program Board this semester is underwriting the first-ever class solely on civil abuse and neglect law at the West Virginia University College of Law in Morgantown.
The board is using training grant funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families. Read more

Job blackmail is a common scare tactic used by corporations to divide communities and hide the bad business practices that threaten worker safety and job security. It is this tactic that holds us economic hostages to corporations who are willing to put profits before people and that compromise our community's health and safety. Our hearts go out to the workers who, over the next several years, will be losing their jobs. Yet we must remember that these jobs were lost to them by a company that chose not to plan ahead, not to change to safer technologies, and not to ensure their future in our community.

But, Huntington Mayor Kim Wolfe purchased one spreader after council rejected authorization to purchase two of them.
