LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Transportation Industry Needs Help

To the Editor,

It really bothers me when I see that truck drivers have to pay over $2,000 to fill their gas tanks. If you think prices are high now, just wait until the real affects of that hit the consumer.

I don't see consumer complaints about the government bailing out the idiots in the home loan industry. They gave loans to people they knew would default. I don't see consumer complaints about the idiots who signed a loan agreement without considering what an "adjustable interest rate" really meant. What is happening to the intelligence of Americans? Can't we do things for themselves? Or are we too busy watching Desperate Housewives to spend the time reading a loan agreement?

The government is giving our hard earned tax money to thieves in the home loan industry and to people who were too lazy to spend the time reading their loan agreement.

Meanwhile, hard working, independent truck drivers are going out of business, which will drive up prices of every commodity even more. Prices won't come down.

I would rather my tax dollars go to helping these hard working folks. I don't think we should be bailing out theives and lazy people. How many times do the Keatings and the Milkens have to rip us off before we get tired of it?

Sincerely,
Art Harvath
