Huntington (HNN) – Rain plummeted throughout Huntington Friday night, April 29, 2005, but a house across from the Marsteller Law Offices, 622 Seventh Street, went up in a ball of flames.

Aftermath of FireMike Holbrook, who lives in the Prichard Building and who works as a sports writer for HNN, heard the first siren about 9:15 p.m. He walked over to his window and "could see the whole house was totally in a huge ball of flames." According to Holbrook, the Huntington Fire Department brought it under control in about ten minutes, but it would continually "flare up."

The apparently empty structure appeared to have been extensively damaged. One anonymous source told HNN that he saw two impaired individuals dropped off at the location a few hours earlier.

At 1:00 a.m., Lt. Webb, Huntington Fire Marshall, and another fireman were searching the inside the burnt out structure using flashlights to particularly examine the building's floor. Webb would not confirm that the fire had a suspicious origin, but he did indicate that it was "under investigation."
