Crocus Blooms in Huntington Area; Spring is Not Far Off

Huntington, WV (HNN) – Crocuses are blooming in the Huntington area—a sure
sign that spring is getting closer and winter will be on the way out.
Some plants like helleborus had beat the crocus in bloom with
flowers blooming in January. A walk in the yard shows the green
stalks of plants coming up like daffodils and tulips. Some are
already five inches or more in height.
Squirrels and birds are out looking for food in these winter
days and many come to area back yard feeders to feed. It is a debate
among some to try and stop the squirrels from feeding on the food
meant for the birds or just enjoy both.
