Huntington mayor David Felinton announced late this evening that William H. 'Skip' Holbrook, Jr. will be Huntington's new Chief of Police. He said that while he "didn't want to say it was a unanimous choice," of the selection committee, they were all pleased with the three finalists in the process and that any one of them would have made a fine police chief. The other two finalists were retired Huntington Police Department Lieutenant Mike Davis who is now the Cabell County 911 director, and Charles Sadler, a retired Charleston police officer who coordinates law enforcement training for the WV Division of Criminal Justice. The committee included Fire Chief Greg Fuller, Marshall Personal Director David Harris, Councilman Paul Farrell, Councilwoman Francis Jackson, Educator Samuel Moore, Pastor Charles Shaw, Attorney Mike Woeffel, Psychologist Diane Mufson, and Attorney Jack Vital. The mayor said that while Holbrook will not start immediately, he will now begin the process of acclimation to his new role. The new chief will be presented to city council for confirmation at their next meeting on June 25th, and will most likely begin that day or the next.
