It's not officially 'official' until Monday's council meeting, but there, incoming Police Chief William H. 'Skip' Holbrook, Jr.
is widely expected to be confirmed as Huntington's newest police officer. Technically, he already is, since the mayor has the power to hire him, and has.
He'll not be just any officer, of course, but THE Man. Call him Skip. He's been honing his skills as a law enforcement officer in North Carolina for many years, but is glad to be back in his hometown. Most, including Holbrook, know he's got his work here cut out for him.
The mayor and the committee formed to vet applicants for the job think he's up to it. Holbrook is scheduled to be sworn in Tuesday in council chambers.
