Energetic Maestro Kimo Furumoto made like Rocky Balboa and ran up and down the steps of the
riverfront amphitheater while the Huntington Symphony Orchestra played the Theme from Rocky.
He led them as they saluted both our Armed Forces and Hollywood with selections including Liberty Fanfare,
The James Bond movie themes, the Lion King Song suite, Mission: Impossible Theme, Rocky,
Schindler's List, the Magnificent Seven and Star Wars.
Harris Riverfront Park was jammed with at least a thousand people who cheered, clapped along
and gave standing ovations to Huntington's 50-piece jewel: the Huntington Symphony Orchestra.
Some who were seeing the symphony for the first time marveled that Huntington is blessed with such an asset.
And blessed we are as the symphony serenaded the crowd on a beautiful summer evening
and then provided synchronized accompaniment to an early Fourth of July Fireworks display that, believe us, you're sorry you missed.
But you didn't miss it after all. We've got highlights of the concert, the 'Rocky' run, the amazing Orchestra in action, and yes, the fireworks.
