Allegiant Air Launches Flights to Florida's Suncoast
Tampa; Clearwater; Longboat Key;Anna Maria Island Much Closer Now

It took Allegiant Air exactly a year after it started flying to the Orlando area from here, in November of 2006, to add the east coast of Florida to its list of vacation hot spots where Huntington-area residents could be in under 3 hours. Until Saturday, land-locked Orlando or the tan sands of the Gold Coast beaches were the only places Allegiant's non-stop jet service would take you. Not like we were complaining.
But, now a mere two months later, thanks largely to the area's nearly sold-out flights habit to those points south and the fact that Tri-State is the lowest cost airport Allegiant serves, [a very big deal to airlines] flights to the sugar white sands of the West Coast of Florida on the Gulf of Mexico are here.
Saturday the maiden voyage to St.Pete/Clearwater International on Tampa Bay took off on a bright and sunny, although breezy and chilly, morning and under 3 hours later, almost 150 lucky locals were in 80-degree Sunshine State bliss. Click on a pic to watch the video
