The electricity in the air was palpable, the secret service agents were jumpy, the crowds in two auditoriums, [equaling more than 1,000 total, by most estimates,] were ready.
When Barack Obama made his entrance -- after glowing introductions by Governor Manchin and Senator Rockefeller, who both were moved by the atmosphere in the University of Charleston auditorium to reminisce about 60s-era excitement-- he wasted no time in getting to his points...the War in Iraq and how much it's costing America in lives lost; opportunities missed; debt incurred and veterans neglected.
