Film Finalists Announced for Festival
'Bottle' Adds 2 Hollywood Cameos

Huntington, WV (HNN) – The Huntington Regional Film Commission has announced the finalists has announced the full list of independent films to be shown and judged during the Fifth annual Appalachian Film Festival April 17-19 at the Keith Albee Theatre.
Times for the showings will be announced at a later date. The Festival kicks off with the red carpet world premiere of "Back to the Bottle" at the Keith Albee. Still in the final editing phase, Toni Karle, mother of Francessca Karle, the writer/director, announced that two major motion picture stars will make cameo appearances in the production.
The event will be hosted by Jamie Lo Fiego and Zippy of "My Z's Up Late," with bleacher seating to begin at 5 p.m. VIPs, celebrities and entertainers will walk the carpet beginning at 7:15 p.m. Tim Irr will be the master of ceremonies for the screening. (See Separate Story.)
The finalists in the "short" category are: "Joe Mover," "Gravida," "The Church of the Good Thief," "Meter," Spring, 1386," "Doors," "What Ana Left Behind," "Nothing but Net," "Steak Dreams," "Trouble Sens," "In Silent Spaces," and "Playdate."
"Anthropophobia" and "Speaking Truth to Power: The Story of the Farm Labor Organizing Committee" compete for the Young Filmmakers Award. Four films compete in a new category --- Micro films, which absorbs the previous music video category, and allows for ultra short productions. The films are: "Fashionable: A Music Video from Quiet Co.," "Inside," "Simulacra, " and "Spiral Bound."
Competing documentaries are: "Mountain Top Removal," "Devil's Oven: The Fire in the Heart of the Little Cities of Black Diamonds," "Kilowatt Ours," "Moving Mountains," and "Change Comes Knocking – The Story of the North Carolina Fund."
Features include "Elizabeth Gunness," "Crash Gordon," "Tattered Angel," "Grilling Bobby Hicks," "Stop! Shout! Scream!" and the non-competing "Johnny Boy."
The three final scripts are: "11:11," "the Trailer Park," and "Juniper Bass."
The festival concludes with an awards dinner at the Frederick. Tickets are $40.
