Huntington, WV (HNN) -- Any irrational fears that were displayed recently in the Huntington area of the imminent collapse of offensive football as we know it were put to bed by the Marshall University football team during their annual Green and White game before 6,107 at Edwards Stadium on Saturday, April 26.
The Green team, made up of first teamers and led by quarterback Mark Cann defeated the White 44-8 while amassing 484 yards of offense along the way.
Cann, a red-shirt freshman from Landrum, SC cemented his spot as the number one QB hitting on 16-of-21 passes for 181 yards with no interceptions.
With first team running back Darius Marshall on the sidelines nursing an injury, the Herd showed plenty of depth at the position. Playing a half for each team senior Kelvin Turner ran for 124 yards on fifteen carries including a 59-yard TD run. Terrel Edwards gained 81 yards on fourteen carries with three touchdowns while Chubb Small ran for 41 yards on six attempts.
E.J. Wynn led all receivers with 76 yards on four catches. Bryant Milligan gained 65 yards on seven catches and Cody Slate hauled in five passes with 62 yards.
Kicker Craig Ratanamorn converted on all PAT's and all of his field goal attempts ending the controlled four quarter scrimmage converting a 47-yard attempt.
