Wayne and Tolsia gave it everything they had in this softball game resulting in what historians will have to consider as the greatest softball game ever played between the two schools.
It was a pitching duel between Tolsia's Shelby Senters and Wayne's Jessica Blevins. Miss Senters on four pitches got three outs in one inning. Both pitchers were backed by good fielding making the score 0-0 after the regulation seven innings.
Wayne managed to get a run in the top of ninth. Tolsia was so close to tying the game with a runner on third when Wayne finally got the last needed out to win the game.
The Pioneers were thrilled with the sectional win and continue on to regional competition in Chapmanville. The pain of the loss was evident in the eyes of the Tolsia players that came so close.
