Huntington, WV (HNN) – After last week's unsettling discovery of a man’s body with a bullet hole in the head around Ninth Avenue, area law enforcement agencies pooled resources beginning Wednesday morning, May 7, in a round up in the city’s ‘hot zones.’

Many of the arrests were made in the Fairfield West neighborhood.

Joining in the drug sweep in addition to the HPD were members of Cabell County Sheriff’s Department, the F.B.I., West Virginia State Police, and D.E.A. Although the concentration was on cocaine and heroin trafficking, Police Chief Skip Holbrook said the raids, intended to shake things up in the drug community, generated leads related to last week’s murder of Timothy Taylor, 23, of Detroit, and the unsolved quadruple teen killings in 2005.

According to the Western Regional Jail admission site, the following pre-trial felons were incarcerated on Wednesday: Joseph Griffin, 52; Telese Brown, 34; James Patton, 30; Jaron Reed, 20; Stacy Thurmond, 43; Lilly Relf, 44; Christopher Ivey, 20; Shannon Johnson, 34; Franklin Tackett, 50; Traci Sims, 31; and Gretchan Smith, 23.

Reportedly, officers had 40 warrants which they plan to serve.
