Mayo Revelations Could Ripple Through Huntington
By Huntingtonnews.net Staff
According to a report on ESPN's "Outside The Lines" former USC guard and Huntington High Graduate O.J. Mayo recieved cash and gifts in violation of NCAA rules.
The report stated that Mayo recieved the gifts from "runners" Louis Johnson and Rodney Guillory who were acting on behalf of Bill Duffy Associates Sports Management. The gifts have alleged to have started while Mayo was at Huntington High.
Mayo has declared himself eligible for the NBA draft and if the allegations are proven true the big losers could be Huntington High and USC. Huntington High could be forced to forfeit all their wins for the 2006-07 season including their state championship, while the Trojans could face a loss of scholarships and ban from post-season tournament play.
