Felinton Nudges Bailey to Win Based on Unofficial Primary Returns
Williams, Thacker Qualify to Take on Vence, Davis

Huntington, WV (HNN) – Huntington Mayor David Felinton squeaked by Cabell County Commissioner Bob Bailey in Tuesday’s primary election.
With all Cabell precincts reporting, Felinton had 3,195 (40.74%) to Bailey’s 3,013 (38.42%). Wayne County returns for the Westmoreland portion of Huntington maintained the mayor’s edge. Felinton, who is seeking his third term, with 3,540 votes to Bailey’s 3,354. Shawn Bresnahan received 1,206 votes and Lucille Wright 588.
Felinton will face current Sheriff and former Huntington Police Department officer Kim Wolfe in the general election.
The At Large race for Huntington City Council had six Democrats fighting for two positions and the right to run against Republicans Alex Vence and Mike Davis. Former Huntington City Manager Steve Williams received 3,494 (29%) votes and Rebecca Thacker took second with 2,488.
Incumbent council member P.D. Adkins finished last with 1,372 (11%) of the at-large votes. The other challengers included Joe Randolph 1,704 (14%), Scott Wallace (12%) and Thomas McChesney 1,420 (12%).
Teresa Loudermilk, District 2 incumbent, won by nine votes (234-225) over Pete Gillespie in a race that featured two additional Democrats. Clinton Bowen received 83 votes and Tom McCloud 75.
Incumbent Third District councilwoman Frances Jackson retained her seat with a 220 to 114 win over Charlie Harless.
In District Four, Nate Randolph, a Republican, ran unopposed and received 317 votes.
Newly appointed council member Sandra Clements who replaced Brandi Jacobs-Jones ran away with the Fifth District race finishing with 705 votes (69%). John Vance had 144, Osagie Ayanru 90, and Jeremiah Jasper 84.
In District Six, Mark Bates, a Republican, beat Deron Runyon 323-273. No Democrats had filed.
James Insco narrowly beat Rick Simmons 438-412.
Jim Ritter and Scott Caserta ran unopposed.
