Guilty Plea Hearing Filed; Former Teacher Pleads Guilty to Aiding, Abetting Bank Robbery

Huntington, WV (HNN) – Federal prosecutors of woman accused of embezzling more than $700,000 from the Guyan Conservation District have asked the court for a plea hearing.
Marcia Master has been accused of taking $713,516 from the agency which receives federal funding for soil and watershed projects in six West Virginia counties, including Cabell and Wayne.
Prosecutors are asking that she forfeit two car and the proceeds from the sale of Pet Palace, located at Fourth Avenue and Ninth Street. Scott Mellert purchased the store in April 2008, according to a published report.
Master worked as an administrative officer for the Conservation District.
Meanwhile, a former Kanawha County art teacher faces up to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty in federal court to two counts of aiding and abetting bank robbery. Melissa Brown, 28, drove the vehicle in which he brother fled after he allegedly robbed City National in Charleston and First Sentry in Barboursville.
Her brother, Jeremy Brown, will stand trial August 19 in U.S. District Court.
Judge Robert Chambers has allowed Ms. Brown to remain under home confinement at her parent’s house pending her October sentencing.
It is unknown if the plea agreement requires that she testify against her brother.
