Wayne Pioneers Defeat Chesapeake Panthers 39-21 in Home Opener

Wayne, WV (HNN) -- The Wayne Pioneers with a strong running and blocking attack won over the Chesapeake Panthers 39-21 in their home opening football game Friday night, Aug. 29. Chesapeake came into the game with a perfect 1-O record.
Wayne before an enthusiastic packed house under new lights took an early 14-0 lead and continued on adding points, leading at the half 27-0 as their new red scoreboard indicated.
From there it was give younger players some experience. Chesapeake did get their offense rolling scoring seven points in the third quarter and 14 points in the fourth for 21 points. Wayne rolled with 440 yards of offense to Chesapeake's 193 yards.
Wayne that has established it's self as one of the West Virginia Class AA football powers where the standard has become in the play-offs looks is if they will continue that standard again in November.
