Huntington, WV (HNN) – Validating dispatcher reports, Bill Bissett, MU Chief of Staff, confirmed Monday evening, Feb. 9, 2009 that a student had been found deceased apparently in a now cordoned off area of Twin Towers West.
The 911 dispatch indicated that a possible cardiac arrest had occurred at TTW around 10 p.m. Marshall University’s newspaper, The Parthenon, stated that the man’s body was found inside a room of the coed fifteen story structure. The paper stated that at least some residents of TTW are being asked to stay in the lobby. Other reports state that the university is providing substitute accommodations for impacted students not allowed back into their rooms.
One report indicated that at least a portion of the dormitory remains open for residents, while the death investigation involving the Huntington Police and Marshall University Police continues on an upper floor.
According to early reports, the death was unattended and foul play is not suspected. Bissett declined to release further details pending notification of the student’s family.
