Cabell County Governor’s Honors Academy Participants Announced

The West Virginia Governor’s Honor Academy (GHA) has announced its winning participants for the upcoming summer session, and seven Cabell County students are among 179 outstanding scholars statewide selected to attend. They are:
Hilary Brownstead - Huntington High
Eric Newfeld - Cabell Midland
Cecilia Billheimer - St. Joseph Central Catholic High
Leah Midkiff - Huntington High
Olivia Doss - Cabell Midland
Leah Ching - Huntington High
Allison Steel - Huntington High
According to the Governor’s Schools of West Virginia website, (http://www.wvgovschools.org/), The Governor's Honors Academy (GHA) is for students who are currently high school juniors and will take place June 27 - July 18, 2009.
The 2009 session of GHA at Bethany marks the 25th anniversary of West Virginia Governor's Schools. A celebration is scheduled for July 11.
The GHA website explains that students selected for this prestigious program will live on the Bethany campus for three weeks, taking academ ically enriching classes and participating in high-level discussions. In addition, there are activities each afternoon and a program each evening. Because of its proximity to Pittsburgh, most field trips are to that area.
