Huntington, WV (HNN) – Avoiding the engineering requirement stumbling block, Mayor Kim Wolfe announced at the Monday night, May 27 , council meeting that Wayne Pollard, originally from Texas and possessing a Ph.D. in engineering, starts Monday, June 1 as the city’s Public Works Director.
Previously, Huntington City Council had amended the City Charter to allow the administration to look for a PSD without the engineer requirement. However, the amendment was protested by Tom Mccallister , which meant that a special or regular election referendum would need to be scheduled.
Or, as happened at the meeting, Council voted to withdraw the amendment.
The vote was 9-1. Steve Williams voted against the withdrawal. Teresa Loudermilk was absent.
