Huntington, WV (HNN) – Amy Wilcox, a mother and teacher from Ironton, Ohio, died June 12 of burns sustained over 90% of her body following a gasoline accelerated fire at her residence April 30 near Coal Grove. Her estranged husband, Tom Wilcox, had been arraigned on attempted murder, arson, aggravated burglary and felonious assault charges stemming from setting the woman on fire during a domestic dispute and a court has set a $10 million dollar bond.

The Ohio Attorney General’s office now is expected to file aggravated murder charges against Mr. Wilcox, who was also burned in the fire. He could face a lethal injection or life imprisonment. The man who had just been released from a hospital allegedly entered the residence with containers of gasoline and set Amy ablaze.

Mrs. Wilcox had been in a Cincinnati burn center. According to her church website, she took a turn for the worse June 8 as her burns were so severe they were overcoming her ability to heal.

The couple have two children, Trevor, 15, and Emily, 11. She taught special education at Collis Career Center in Chesapeake, Ohio, and was working on a master’s degree at Marshall University.
