Huntington, WV (HNN) - Responding to a “where the money went” question regarding stimulus funds and the Federal Reserve, Rep. Nick J. Rahall (D-WV) essentially came out as favoring a bill that would require accountability for the Federal Reserve.
“I’m not for granting the Federal Reserve Board additional powers and certainly not hidden powers that would not be transparent,” adding that based on the constituents statement he would favor HR 1207, The Federal Reserve Transparen cy Act.
HR 1207 would require before the end of 2010 an audit of the Federal Reserve System including the Board of Governors and individual federal reserve banks. A detailed report would be provided to Congress.
The bill has 282 Republican and Democrat co-sponsors. Some citizens are concerned that the Congressional Democrat leadership, Senator Reid and Congresswoman Pelosi , will block passage as it is written.
