Huntington, WV (HNN) -- Frances Jackson, chair of the Ad Hoc Committee of Huntington City Council looking at oversight regarding the Huntington Sanitary Board, told HNN that the next meeting date will be pushed back. After examining requested documents, Jackson has written Loretta Covington, executive director, asking for “many missing months.”
The letter likely went out sometime on Tuesday, February 2.
“It will be a few more weeks before I’ll be able to call a meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Sanitary Board,” Jackson said. Due to “missing information that I need,” she has been unable to complete some calculations.
The fact-finding committee has heard explanations from Sanitary Board members to questions asked at the meeting. Safety issues are the only hint as to what Jackson seeks.
Informants, who fear retaliation for speaking in public, have told more than one council member about alleged Sanitary safety issues.
At the first meeting in January, assistant city attorney Lora Maynard emphasized “employers are prohibited from retaliatory acts against an employee.”
