Laurie Reasons Finds New Job at MU a Perfect Fit

Huntington, WV (HNN) – There are many reasons why Laurie Reasons is happy to be working for the Marshall University Foundation.
The foundation's new director of special projects has a daughter entering Marshall as a Yeager Scholar this fall, a son at Huntington High and a husband with full–time duties as the head pastor at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church.
Reasons, a former corporate sales field manager for Continental Airlines, said her past work experience has helped her fit into her new job.
"It's been an easy transition," Reasons said. "My husband is a pastor so I have experience as a church hostess and I also have a background in corporate communications."
As director of special projects, Reasons said she is in charge of putting a public face on the foundation.
"I'll be doing event planning and ceremonies for large gifts as they appear," Reasons said. "I'll be working on the Byrd Biotech building opening in August and helping with donor annual reports."
Reasons began working for Continental airlines in 1997. She began as a service specialist and rose to the rank of corporate sales field manager, in charge of sales for Kentucky, West Virginia and Tennessee.
"I worked with Fortune 500 companies with millions in travel budgets," Reasons said. "After 9/11 the industry changed and I began doing a lot of PR work."
Reasons said she enjoys the stability of her new job.
"When I worked for Continental I worked out of my home and was on the road all the time," Reasons said. "I wanted to do something locally. I felt it was counterproductive to be living in Huntington and trying to sell Nashville."
