MU, Big Green Foundation to 'Paint Coalfields Green' with Trips to Princeton, Beckley

Huntington, WV (HNN) – Marshall University and the Big Green Foundation are set to "Paint the Southern Coalfields Green" this week with trips to Princeton and Beckley slated for early this week.
 
Starting Tuesday, July 26, 2005, Marshall officials will head to Mercer County in an effort to gain interest in the program.
 
Tuesday's event will be held at the Douglas Center in Princeton and will start with a reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:15 p.m.
 
A pair of Marshall football players will be attending the event along with Coach Mark Snyder, Athletic Director Bob Marcum and many other Marshall officials.
 
Cost for the Mercer County event is $20 and Marshall faithful from surrounding counties, including Tazewell County, Virginia are welcome to attend.
 
The Big Green Foundation will then move on to Raleigh County for a two–day event starting Wednesday, July 27, 2005.
 
Wednesday, the Beckley Athletic Club of Marshall will get things started at the Black Knight Country Club Pool in Beckley.
 
Marshall head basketball coach Ron Jirsa will join Marcum and Snyder for the Wednesday event, which will start with a reception at 6 p.m. followed by dinner.
 
Cost for the dinner at Black Knight Country Club will be $50.
 
Thursday morning, the 15th annual Big Green Four–Man Scramble Golf Tournament will take place at Grandview Country Club, hosted by the Beckley Big Green club.
 
Registration and lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Grandview with a shotgun start to initiate the scramble at 12:30 p.m.
 
Entry fees for the golf tournament is $100 per person, which includes greens fees, cart rental, lunch, registration and a dinner catered by Outback Steakhouse upon completion of the tournament.
 
All proceeds from the events will go to the Big Green Scholarship Foundation, which provides scholarships to Marshall University's athletes.
