MUSIC Shinedown Taking Touring Break, In Studio Recording Second CD

Huntington (HNN) – In September of 2003 Jacksonville based band Shinedown opened up the main stage at WAMX's X-Fest 03. At that time Shinedown was just starting to get some radio play and several people still had no clue who they were.
 
When Shinedown played at the Charleston Regatta in September 2004 with Collective Soul, more than 40,000 music fans showed up for their performance.
 
Now after 23 straight months of touring, including a trek with Van Halen, Shinedown is taking a break from the road and recording their second album.
 
Their debut disc, "Leave a Whisper" has been certified gold and is still one of the top selling rock albums in the tri-state, despite being released nearly two years ago.
 
Monday afternoon HNN's Brandon Woolum chatted with Shinedown guitarist Jasin Todd as he prepared to head into the studio. The two focused on the new CD and the upcoming show in Noblesville, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis.
 
The band is only performing a few shows while recording the new disc. The closest show the guys are doing to Huntington is a radio festival in Noblesville, Indiana along with 3 Doors Down, Crossfade and No Address.
 
Shinedown had four top 5 rock radio singles off their first album including "Fly From the Inside," "45," "Burning Bright" and their cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man."
 
Woolum will be making the trip to Noblesville as part of HNN's summer rockin' road trip feature. When he returns he'll give you a full review of the show along with exclusive front row photo's of all the bands.
 
Tomorrow HNN will have another segment of Audio Feedback. Woolum will be talking on the phone with fellow Atlantic Records band, No Address. No Address will also be playing the show in Indiana and will be playing in Charleston this July with 3 Doors Down.
