Huntington (HNN) – Just a few years ago a young girl sat in a Tennessee classroom writing poems and holding in anger as classmates taunted her about being overweight. Now at the age of eighteen Nissi Bergman has gotten rid of the love handles and is making a strong run at the music industry.

Listen to the MP3The Nashville native tasted success last summer while being on the road with Jessica Simpson and Ryan Cabrera, and is now ready for a full course meal.

She has multiple out of town shows lined up for the summer including a show in Huntington this Friday evening, June 17, 2005.

Nissi Bergman Nissi's ( pronounced "Nee–See") first single, "Vacation," is getting airplay on various radio stations throughout the east coast and is generating interest with major record labels. Virgin Records contacted her last year wanting to purchase the song for their upcoming pop artist Hope Partlow.

However, Nissi is confident that the song will bring her success and opted not to hand the song over.

With tons of support from her father, who also is her drummer/road manager, and thousands of music fans on MySpace.com, Nissi is starting to adjust to her growing fame. This laid–back teenager still finds it shocking at all the attention she's getting lately.

Monday afternoon, June 13, 2005, Nissi called HNN's Brandon Woolum and talked about her growing popularity and upcoming visit to Huntington. Click here to listen to the full length uncut interview.

Bergman, who is often compared to Michelle Branch, will join Frickin' A and Saving Jane this Friday, June 17, 2005 for an event at the Huntington Music Hall, located at 611 4th Ave. Tickets for the show cost $10 and can be purchased via the web at www.MonkeyBarLive.com.
