Having survived bombarding by two ice storms, the region has flooding on its plate. Some floodgates will be put in place as the water will reach around 53 feet where flood stage is 50 feet. This impacts Harris Riverfront Park, Ceredo, Guyandotte and INCO. Here are some images of the Ohio River flooding.

The Huntington Stormwater Utility is currently monitoring the Ohio and Guyandotte River levels. The Ohio River is currently at 51.65 feet, which is above flood stage (50 feet). All 17 pump stations are in operation, and they will remain in service until the river levels recede.

Huntington – Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced that Trent S. Davis, 30, of Huntington, was sentenced to 87 months in prison and 20 years of supervised release for possession of child pornography involving prepubescent minors. Davis will also be required to register as a sex offender after his release from prison. Read more

Huntington – Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced that Kelly Ray Ingels, Sr., 46, of Huntington, was sentenced to 21 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. Ingels also was sentenced to 12 months in prison for the sale of a firearm to a juvenile, which is to run concurrently with his 21 month sentence. Read more

At their meeting Thursday, February 25, 2021, Cabell County Board of Education members voted unanimously to return district students to regular, full-time instruction five-days-a-week beginning Monday, March 1, 2021. This includes students in grades Pre-K though 12. The school day schedule will remain on the 30-minute staggered schedule that has been in place since the beginning of the school year.
