The score was tied at 4-4 after nine innings and Marshall had the bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth. There were two outs. The tension of a close game was there when suddenly the base umpire said, "Balk runners advance."

Glevenyak on third base advanced to home to score and end the game. Eastern Kentucky pitcher Greg Harper and the EKU coaching staff looked perplexed at the balk call, wanting an explanation. The base umpire cited movement of the left foot and promptly left the field as the EKU baseball team looked stunned at what happened.
