Huntington (HNN) - One of Marshall's most popular in-state recruits has decided to transfer to Concord University.

Tank Tunstalle, a highly-recruited tailback from Wyoming East in 2001, will transfer to Concord in hopes of starting for the football team this fall.

Tunstalle's transfer came about due to the surge of redshirt freshman Gerwin Williams and changes in the Thundering Herd coaching staff.

The back-up running back was limited by injury last season and did not appear in any games for Marshall in 2004.

Tunstalle appeared in eight games in 2003, rushing 38 times for 153 yards.

When Tunstalle signed with Marshall over WVU in the spring of 2002, it came as a major surprise to most of the community.

His arrival came with much anticipation as he led the Wyoming East Warriors backfield to playoff appearances between 1999-2001.

However, Tank never progressed through the Marshall program as recruiting got better and Tank's health got worse.

Coming into the 2005 season, speculation was that Tank would have been at least third or fourth on the depth chart at running back, which essentially led to his departure from the program.

"We wish Tank and his family nothing, but the best," Marshall football coach Mark Snyder said. "I am positive he will be very successful at Concord."

Tunstalle is a native of New Richmond, W.Va. in Wyoming County.
