Washington, DC (HNN) –Former West Virginia and current Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones was arrested Wednesday, July 13, 2005 on charges of felony vandalism and assault after getting into a fight at a nightclub.
The Titans' top draft choice was arrested early Wednesday morning at Titans headquarters. Jones went with Nashville police without incident.
The charges stemmed from a weekend incident in which nightclub owner Robert Gaddy told police that he asked three of Jones' friends to leave his club because, according to an arrest warrant, "they were smoking drugs."
According to Gaddy, Jones became belligerent and started cussing at him before grabbing his shirt and breaking his necklace.
The friends that Gaddy had kicked out held Jones back, but the former Mountaineer defensive back got away and allegedly hit Gaddy in the chest.
There are also allegations that Jones shouted a racial slur at a club employee as he was leaving the club.
Ironically, Gaddy was wearing a Titans T–shirt when he filled out the warrant in court. He is a former player for the Nashville Kats of the Arena Football League.
This is not the first time that Jones has been in the eye of an altercation at a nightclub. In April, Georgia authorities investigated more allegations, but no charges were filed.
The Titans are no stranger to altercations involving authorities, as this marks the fourth time in the last year that a member of the team has been arrested.
Tennessee officials declined immediate comment on the situation.
