Three New Champs Crowned at RPA Basketball Finale

Huntington, WV (HNN)–Three new basketball champions were crowned at Jefferson Park in Spring Valley in the RPA Memorial Basketball Tournament on Sunday afternoon, July 17, 2005 in thrilling championship competition.
 
After four days of basketball play among 30 teams starting on Thursday the field was narrowed down to the final two teams for Sunday championship play.
 
Timbo's and the Golden Bears fought it out in the A Division Championship with TImbo's winning 37–34 in the last championship game of the day. The game finished right before dusk.
 
It was Hard Work 30 and the Dirty Chimps 27 in the final B Division Championship game. Hard Work lived up to its name having to win two games back to back for their championship.

Hard Work won the first game 35–34 beating the Dirty Chimps in overtime with a foul shot at the end of the game to set up a second game in the double elimination tournament.
 
Legendary Potty Train played the Edgewood Hillbillies in the Six Foot and Under Championship in the first championship game of the day. Edgewood won the championship 44–43 in another exciting basketball game.
 
Rain halted the first game with about 20 seconds left. The court was covered with the tarp by the field crew. Once the rain stopped the court was dried and play resumed.
