Pioneers Win Consolation Game of Holiday Basketball Tournament

Huntington, WV (HNN) -- The Wayne Pioneers won by one point over the Point Pleasant Big Blacks Thursday night in the consolation game of the Spring Valley High School Holiday Basketball Tournament.

The score was tied 8-8 at the end of the first period between the two schools. Point Pleasant ended up having a two point lead with an 18-16 score at the end of the second period.
 
Wayne came fighting back in the third period and making a three pointer with 2:55 left in the third period gave the Pioneers a 27-25 lead.
 
With 13.4 seconds left Wayne had a 37-35 lead. There was some tension With 7.7 seconds when Wayne missed their foul shots and the Big Blacks got the ball back. The Pioneer defense held for those 7.7 seconds giving Wayne a one point victory.
