Irving, TX (HNN) -- Marshall University women’s soccer’s Erika Duncan (Easthaven, Scotland), Molly Snead (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Sarah Vinson (Amelia, Ohio) earned 2009 Conference USA awards, as announced by the league office Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009. The 2009 awards were voted upon by the head coaches of each conference member.

Duncan, a forward, and Snead, a midfielder, each received All-Conference Second Team honors. This is Duncan’s first postseason accolade, while Snead earned her second C-USA honor, dating back to her All-Freshman Team award in the 2006 season.

Duncan finished her second consecutive season with nine goals, six of them coming during conference play. Her five game winning goals on the season tied her for first place in C-USA. Duncan wraps up her junior season in the top-five in five of Marshall’s all-time categories.

Snead concluded her senior season with the Herd, tallying three goals on 36 shots and a career-high four assists. Her back to back game-winners earned her C-USA Player of the Week on September 7th and gave Marshall first-ever victories against Winthrop and Radford. She will leave in the top-10 on MU’s career list in goals (fifth), game-winning goals (tied second), points (sixth), shots (third), matches played (tied fifth) and matches started (ninth).

Vinson was voted to the All-Freshman Team, the third Marshall player since 2006 to do so (Snead in 2006 and Angela DeSumma in 2008). She was the only freshman to start in all 19 games for the Herd and led newcomers in all offensive categories. Vinson tallied her first collegiate goal in a 2-0 victory against Radford. She scored in back to back matches, including the game-winner in MU’s C-USA home opener against Houston. Vinson was also voted to the University of Kentucky All-Tournament Team.

“We’re very excited, anytime individuals receive accolades during the season, it’s very clear that the team is being successful,” head coach Kevin Long said. “Hopefully this is something that we can continue in the years to come.”
