HUNTINGTON, WV – Marshall University President Dr. Stephen J. Kopp has extended Athletic Director Mike Hamrick’s contract with the university through June 2017. Kopp said Hamrick’s leadership has set a new standard for athletics at Marshall and that the veteran sports administrator has brought a high level of academic and fiscal accountability to the department since he was hired in 2009. (HUNTINGTON,WV) The Marshall University Cheerleaders will be competing for a national title at the National Cheerleading Association Competition at Daytona Beach, Florida this week. On Saturday the Marshall cheerleaders held an open house at the Gullickson Hall Gymnasium to fine tune and work on their competition routine. A woman fell Friday morning inside the Central Huntington Parking Garage in the 900 block of Fifth Avenue. Jim's Restaurant is located on the first floor. Fire Department officials indicated that she apparently fell one floor during a brief power outage. The garage has a split level arrangement without any barriers. The Herald Dispatch identified the victim as Patricia King. According to HFD reports, she was unconscious when taken to the hospital, which listed her condition as "critical."

In November the St. Joseph Lady Irish began a safari search for a fourth consecutive Class A girls basketball championship. Four months and three days later they found it. This is how accomplishment overcame adversity to achieve that goal.
