Hinton, WV (HNN) – Parkersburg once again was among the state’s lowest
priced – if over-$2 a gallon gasoline can be so designated – venues at the
pump, with regular at $2.19 a gallon on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at BP,
Marathon, 7-11 and Exxon stations. This is up from $2.14 a gallon last week.
Hinton prices rose to $2.35 from last week’s $2.29 at the Go-Mart, Cargo and
Exxon stations in town.
Checking with http://www.westvirginiagasprices.com I found that Optima in
Keyser had regular at $2.18 a gallon. For a penny more -- $2.19 a gallon –
the Sunoco station in Glendale could keep the heap running.
Huntington prices bumped up about 4 cents a gallon to $2.34 at Speedway and
BP Sunday, compared with Speedway regular at $2.30 a gallon the day after
Christmas. Sheetz in Moorefield had regular at $2.21 and the Speedway in New
Martinsville was at $2.22 a gallon. Among the higher priced locales in the
Mountain State was Logan, where Citgo was charging $2.50 a gallon on Sunday,
Jan. 1, 2006.
Charleston area gasoline prices on the first day of 2006 ranged from $2.19
to more than $2.39 a gallon, with the higher prices generally in Charleston
proper and the lower prices at stations in Jefferson, Nitro, Cross Lanes and
Teays Valley. Examples: Oliver in Jefferson, $2.19, the same as last week;
$2.19 a gallon at the Chevron in Spring Hill; $2.22 at the Sunoco in Marmet
and $2.29 at the Go Mart in Poca. The Go Mart in Charleston had regular at
$2.32 a gallon on Jan. 1, 2006. Check out http://www.charlestongasprices.com
