Huntington, WV (HNN) – Click on mms://media.huntingtonnews.net:7800/video/2005/Tyson_Demo.asf and see a
sample of what's in store for Huntington News Network readers this year:
Video news clips. This is a test of our new product, which we plan to offer
on a regular basis on all three HNN sites.
Our only resolution for 2006 is to keep bringing you the best of everything
in news, commentary, culture and entertainment for the Tri-State, the
Hinton-Beckley-Greenbrier Valley area and the Two Virginias at
www.huntingtonnews.net, www.hintonnews.net and www.bluefieldnews.net,
respectively.
You may have noticed – I certainly hope you have – the addition of Scripps
Howard News Service and affiliated sites to HNN. Along with the help of HNN
Editor David M. Kinchen, a veteran of 40 years in journalism, I chose
Scripps Howard because of the superb quality and range of news and opinion
offered by this outstanding news service. Last summer, I asked Kinchen to
choose a news and opinion service. We narrowed our search to two or three
and we decided on SHNS based on Kinchen's experience on two major
metropolitan dailies --The Milwaukee Sentinel and the Los Angeles Times -- as
well as three other daily newspapers in Indiana and West Virginia.
For nearly a century, Scripps Howard News Service has covered Washington and
the world, giving readers national and international news, sports, business,
entertainment, health, money, science, crime, technology and religion.
Scripps Howard News Service provides breaking news, analysis and
behind-the-scenes reporting from its national staff. It also offers
international, national and regional news from the Scripps Howard chain of
newspapers and contributing writers from other major newspapers, including
the San Francisco Chronicle, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Raleigh News and
Observer, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, The Sacramento Bee, and the St.
Petersburg (FL) Times.
We believe the addition of video news and entertainment clips and Scripps
Howard News Service to our already excellent lineup of writers and
columnists will continue to make Huntington News Network, Hinton News
Network and Bluefield News Network state-of-the-art, cutting-edge news
sites for West Virginia. Watch for constant improvements to HNN: That's our
promise to you, our faithful readers. Thank you and have a healthy and
prosperous New Year!
