GASOLINE SURVEY
Prices Nearing $2 Level in Much of Mountain State

Hinton, WV (HNN) – Gasoline prices in Hinton stayed the same as last week --
$2.29 a gallon -- on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at Jarrell’s Exxon in
Bellepoint, Go Mart in Avis, the nearby Chevron Foodmart, as well as the
Exxon and Cargo stations on the bypass.
Statewide, the lowest observed price on Oct. 7, 2006 was $2.06 a gallon at
the Sam’s Clubs in Vienna, the same as last week’s low at the same
location, according to http://www.westvirginiagasprices.com. In Huntington,
regular was $2.10 a gallon on Oct. 7, 2006 at Rich Oil and Sunoco, down from
last week’s area low of $2.16 at the Speedway at 5th Avenue and 28th Street.
At the Flying J across the state line in Catlettsburg, KY, regular was
$2.01 on Oct. 7, down from last week’s $2.08 a gallon. Regular $2.10 at the
Certified and Chevron in Kenova. It was $2.18 at the Go Mart and KO in Green
Valley, Mercer County, and $2.07 at the Shell station in Fairlea, as well as
the Go Mart, Shell, Chevron and Citgo stations in Rainelle. In Charles Town,
regular was $2.35 at Sheetz on Oct. 7, the same as last week. Regular was
$2.30 a gallon on Oct. 7 at Exxon in Elkins and a penny less at Sheetz in
Philippi and Citgo in Martinsburg.
In the Charleston area, the lowest observed price on Oct. 7, 2006 was $2.07
at Pilot in Nitro, down from last week’s low of $2.10 at many suburban
locations, according to http://www.charlestongasprices.com. The Speedway in
Cross Lanes had regular at $2.08, while the nearby Go Mart had it at $2.09.
The $2.09 price was observed at TA Travel Center in Hurricane. Citgo in
Charleston had the highest price in the area, $2.36, while the Go Mart in
central Charleston was selling regular for $2.16 a gallon on Oct. 7. Other
Charleston area prices include $2.20 at Exxon in St. Albans; $2.24 at Exxon
in Campbells Creek, and $2.21 at Exxon and Chevron in Comfort.
